Listening Circles & Small Groups

THE LISTENING CIRCLES & SMALL GROUPS ARE CURRENTLY NOT MEETING,

THEY ARE ON HOLD UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE, DUE TO COVID.

For more information, contact our small group coordinator,

Christina Micek at christinam123@gmail.com.

Wisdom Groups are for those who want to explore a particular wisdom tradition further. Please go to our Partner page here to connect with a local group that meets weekly for study and practice.

Listening Circles are groups of 8-12 people in which each person has the chance to share what is on their heart and mind while participants listen compassionately. There is no discussion, teaching, commenting, or advice giving. Instead, there is deep hearing, abiding, and accepting.

Small Groups are topical, dialogical, and some include ritual or ceremony.

Location: In Tucson, most Listening Circles & Small Groups

meet on 2nd and 4th Sundays

4:15 p.m. Tucson City Council Ward 6 Office at (3202 E. 1st St. Tucson AZ 85716).

Or at someone’s home on different days.

Check this page often to see the current listing of circles and groups below.

                    LISTENING CIRCLES/SMALL GROUPS

1) John Dore

Self-Revelation — East and West Carl Jung and the Tao

A Book Study/discussion/experience of

The Tao Te Ching and Jung - A Short Introduction

We begin with the question: “what exactly are we as human beings?” We’ll explore  two ways of responding to the question - Karl Jung’s vision of human nature; and with  Taoist beliefs and practices, begun by Lao Tzu, about human consciousness. This brings up questions like “who am I really?”; a ‘human-doing’ or ‘human-thinking machine’? “When can I just BE without thinking, doing something?”

The study offers an introduction to Jung’s comprehensive psychology, applying it to  issues that arise. In pondering the Tao we learn the key principles of Taoism. Each session includes a brief teaching on the book material (often a poem), a discussion of the most engaging ideas (all sharing is voluntary), as well as some hands-on  experience of these ideas. This includes breathing techniques, meditations (both silent and guided), viewings of art, audiotapes, and perhaps movement like QiGong.

Book Club Group started June 6th!

3) LISTENING CIRCLE with Christina Micek
2nd and 4th Sundays at 4:15 to 6 p.m.
Tucson City Council Ward 6 Office at (3202 E. 1st St. Tucson AZ 85716).
In a circle, each person takes turns responding to any of the following questions while the group practices compassionate listening – without questions, cross-talk, advice, or discussion:
What are you learning from your life? What are you thinking you are to become? What is the next right action? This being the case, how shall I proceed? What is on your heart and mind? What are you concerned about? What is most significant for you now that you need to talk about? The purpose of the listening circle is to broaden our own understanding, compassion toward, and acceptance of ourselves and each other and to grow into our potential not only for our own sake, but for the world’s sake, for the world needs everyone’s gifts, engagement, and service.

Contact Christina at christinam123@gmail.com.

Drop-ins welcome.

Come…
As you are: “good”, “bad”, indifferent; vibrant, exhausted, blah…
Your authentic self is welcome here. You’re perfect just the way you are.

Leave…
Having experienced being fully seen, heard, received, thus feeling connected,

 refreshed and enriched.

What it is: An oasis in the midst of every day life.

What you do: Share your authentic self (as much as you’re willing), listen with your heart, breathe in Love, receive it, then share it with the group — including yourself.

The content…
 1. A process called “Awesome Women” In just three minutes, we are seen, appreciated, acknowledged. It’s a chance to be refreshingly truthful, to receive loving feedback, to once again stand in our own power.

2. A sweet yet potent process evolved from Kything (an ancient form of prayer), a spiritual version of Master Mind, and Miracle Circles (from Year of Miracles) that allows us to ask for what we want in our lives, open our souls to the possibilities of Life, and to receive fully.

5) MEDITATION CATS GROUP

Wednesdays 7:00 to 8:30 p.m.

Little Chapel of All Nations at (1052 N. Highland Ave. Tucson, AZ 85719).

Meditation Cats are young adults who explore world wisdom traditions and contemplative practices to foster compassionate relationships with ourselves, each other, and the environment.

They get their name from the University of Arizona’s Wildcats mascot and meet on campus.

Drop-ins welcome.

“I know Sacred Space holds the consciousness for a unified vision for humanity.  Thank you.”
